World Mosquito Day, observed every year on August 20, aims in bringing awareness to the people from all over the world about the threat of malaria and other diseases transmitted by one of the world’s deadliest killers – the mosquito.
On the occasion of World Mosquito Day, the diocesan women’s fellowship team of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod organized a mosquito net distribution program in Jhapa district, Nepal.
There were more than 25 people gathered to receive the gifts. During the distribution program, the women’s fellowship leader gave a short speech about the World Mosquito day, the different sicknesses which are spread by mosquitoes and encouraged the recipients to use mosquito nets to protect their families from mosquito-borne diseases.
After her speech, the team distributed mosquito nets to 25 poor villagers. All the beneficiaries are from poor families who earn their living by daily labor.
This was a golden opportunity for the team to help the underprivileged people by giving small gifts of love. The beneficiaries were very happy and thankful to the church for the precious gifts.
One of the beneficiaries, a grandmother named Hira Tudo said, “I could not buy a mosquito net for a long time, but today God has provided me a new one. I am so happy.”
“I have never received this kind of gift in my life and today for the first time I got a mosquito net as a gift of love from the church. Thank you so much”, said Amirta Limbu.
