A team of Women’s Fellowship members and Sisters of Compassion of Believers Church Gujarat Diocese held an anti-tobacco awareness program on World No Tobacco Day, 31st May 2014. Around 100 people volunteered for the program and the program reached more than 1,500 people.
The team distributed the book Babuji Ab Na Pina (Papa, Don’t Drink) and talked to people about the social, financial and physical impacts of tobacco.
“It is really amazing that the church is doing awareness programs regarding consumption of alcohol and chewing tobacco,” said a man named Suresh. “Since childhood we were using these things and nobody never warned us. Today I came to know about it and I will give up all the bad habits.”
On World No Tobacco Day, the church organized rallies and awareness programs in many communities.
