On 23rd June 2013, Believers Church Gujarat Diocese celebrated International Widows Day in the slums. Twenty-two widows participated in the program organized by Women’s Fellowship and Sisters of Compassion. Each widow received a sari as the Believers Church team sought to show them their value. They were so excited to see someone caring for them.
“No one cares for us,” said a widow named Kavaliben. “We are chased out from the society. Neighbors did not allow us to come to their houses – we are hopeless.” She expressed thanks for the hope and peace brought by the Widows Day event.
Believers Church works throughout the year among suffering and neglected people, including widows, orphans and leprosy patients.
