On International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014, the Diocese of Delhi held a poverty alleviation program for the widows living in a leprosy colony. Around 35 widows received gifts like sewing machines, rickshaws and bicycles which can help them to find a livelihood.
Bishop Dr. Simon John inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. He spoke about the importance of the day.
Shri K.C. Tyagi (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha) was the chief guest of the program. In his speech he talked about the work of the church among poor and needy.
On this International Widows Day, Believers Church changed the lives of thousands of widows through the Poverty Alleviation project.
