Believers Church Niranam Diocese held a campaign on 29th and 30th November as part of World AIDS Day. It was jointly organized by Believers Church Youth Movement and Athmeeya Yathra radio.
The team went around to different places holding wayside awareness programs. Their goal was to communicate the threat of AIDS and the rising prejudice against its victims. Each program began with a song that exposed the danger of AIDS. This was followed by a skit which told the story of a young man who went to Mumbai in search of a job, but ended up as an AIDS patient. His situation only worsened as he was ostracized by his own people. After the skit, a short message was given describing AIDS, how it is contracted and how to avoid it. Local people watched the programs curiously and in considerable numbers.
The Believers Church team also was able to hand out about 3,000 pieces of free literature regarding AIDS.
Believers Church observes World AIDS Day each year with a variety of programs and rallies.
