Believers Church Sikkim installed a water tank in Mount Star Academy, a private school near Teesta Bazaar.
The school had been struggling with water scarcity. Its only water source was a pipeline coming from Mangwa Busty, two kilometers away. There was no tank to hold water for the school’s use. But this changed when Principal Rebecca sought help from Believers Church. Believers Church arranged the free installation of a water tank.
On 31st October 2012, students and community members gathered at Mount Star Academy to see the completed work. Special guest Mr. Devasis Chakraborty (Ranger Officer) cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new tank.
“There are 300 students in our school,” said the principal, “but there was no water facility for the children. Though there is pipeline, we could not afford to build such a big water tank. So I requested our pastor for help. Seeing the great need of water, he agreed to help me. As a result we have a good water tank in our school. I am very much thankful to the leaders of Believers Church.”
Three hundred students and ten local families benefit from the new tank. This is one of many initiatives Believers Church has taken to provide water for undeveloped communities.
