On 22nd March 2013, a Women’s Fellowship team of Believers Church Odisha Diocese used World Water Day as an opportunity to provide pure water to a community.
When villagers gathered, a Women’s Fellowship member explained the dangers of drinking polluted water, including the risk of diseases such as typhoid, cholera and diarrhea. She encouraged them to drink clean water and take care of their children in a hygienic way.
The Believers Church team distributed five BioSand water filters to the community.
“In this village we are drinking impure water,” said local Mahila Samiti leader Samamri, “and sometimes we do not get water also. Now through this BioSand water filter we can get pure water.” She shared her desire to see the village women grow in each area of life, particularly in literacy. In response to this concern, Believers Church is starting a literacy class in the area.
This community is just one of thousands that Believers Church is working to educate and develop.
