A poverty alleviation program was conducted in a village on the 18th of July by Believers Church Dhemaji Diocese.
Despite bad weather conditions around 100 people gathered for the distribution. Around 30 families benefited through this program. They received tin sheets, sewing machines, a pulling cart and a cow. The villagers were very happy to receive income-generating gifts.
Sandhyrani received a sewing machine and she said, “My family income source is very less. I can sew clothes but we had no machine and we cannot afford to buy one. Today I am happy to get this machine as I can sew the clothes and earn for my family. Now there is no need to go to the tailor for my children’s clothes.”
Suren works in a tea garden and he said, “I received tin sheets and I am glad for the gift. I get less income and our family hardly manages from hand to mouth. We could not think of buying new tin sheets for our house roof but through the concern of Believers Church, my family was provided with tin sheets which will be a great help.”
The impact of the community development project in Dhemaji Diocese is a small example of how Believers Church has uplifted the needy all across South Asia.
