Uttarakhand School Receives Filter on World Water Day

Believers Church Uttarakhand Women’s Fellowship and BioSand water filter leader Kuldeep celebrated World Water Day on 22nd March 2012 with a program about the importance of clean water. The awareness program was held in Sat Guru Public School in Paragpur village, Saharanpur district.

Sat Guru Public School is run by Mr. Ram Kumar and attended by 150 students. The Believers Church team had done a survey of this school and learned that the water there was very bad. Mr. Ram Kumar explained, “We bring water from a 50 meter distance from a bore well for drinking, and we have been drinking this bad-smelling water since our childhood. Even though it is harmful for our body, we do not have any other option.”

Recognizing the health hazard from the water, our staff freely gave the school a BioSand water filter during the program on World Water Day. Mr. Ram Kumar was happy to see that the filter was able to purify water without even needing electricity.

Now all the schoolchildren are regularly drinking pure water from the BioSand water filter.
