On 11 July 2021, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu distributed school supplies and hygiene items to underprivileged children in a remote village in Chitwan District, through Hope for Children.
Since the local government is planning to resume schools in the area, Hope for Children decided to provide school supplies to needy children that would help them in their education. The people of this village are solely dependent on farming to earn their livelihood. The little income they get from cultivation is barely enough to feed their families, let alone provide school stationery items to their children.
Realized their need, Hope for Children, with the help of the local clergy, arranged a distribution program where they distributed school supplies and hygiene items to 70 children and a sack of rice (25 kg) to 5 needy families. Each child received a set of 12 notebooks, 1 packet each of pencil and pen, a geometry box, 2 pieces of soap and 5 pieces of face masks.
The children were happy and excited to receive the school supplies because they do not have to trouble their parents who are already penniless due to the two-month lockdown imposed by the Nepal government.
