Believers Church Dioceses in Nepal installed two new Bishops in a solemn function held on 9th July 2017.
More than 1500 people attended the installation ceremony where Bishop Hem Chandra Sharma was installed as the Bishop of Diocese of Kathmandu and Bishop Dan Bahadur Tamang installed as the Bishop of Diocese of Birtamod.
The installation program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. K.P. Yohannan, Metropolitan and the special guests.
Delivering the keynote address, Smt. Hisila Yami (Former minister of physical planning and infrastructure and present Naya Shakti Party leader) said, “Although Nepal is a secular country, the Christian community has not experienced religious freedom as they should”. “People of all religions and communities should be treated equally” she added.
Mr. Lokmani Dhakal (Member of Parilament and President of Jana Jagaran Party), Mr. Gagan Thapa (Former health minister and Member of Parliament), Bishop Paul Simick (Bishop of Roman Catholic Church), Mr. C.B. Gahatraj (President of FNCN [Federation of National Christian, Nepal]), Rev. Barnabas Shreshta (President of Nepal Christian Society), Mr. Ishujang Karki (senior pastor of Holiness Church Nepal), Mr. Rinji Lama (senior clergy of Anglican Church), Mr. K.P. Tripathi (Advisor of Pokhara Christian Community), Mr. N.D. Thulung (Senior Pastor of Eastern Christian Community) and others delivered felicitations.
The former prime minister and CPN-UML Leader, Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal was also present on the occasion, along with other esteemed political leaders, special guests from abroad, senior pastors of varied churches, leaders of various organizations and journalists.
