An AIDS awareness program was organized by Believers Church Hyderabad Diocese on 1st December 2010 at Sundaraiah Park in a district of Andhra Pradesh.
Pastor Vijay received permission to hold the rally from government officials of various departments, and some of them even attended the program. Bagga Lingampalli (Circle Inspector), Shri Jeeva Ratnam, and his team members were specially invited to join the event.
Around 200 Minor Seminary students and staff took part in the rally, along with Rt. Rev. B.K. Lukose, local clergymen, Believers Church office staff and Bridge of Hope staff.
The procession started from Sundaraiah Park and continued up to Indra Park. The marchers called out awareness slogans as they marched.
Rev. Fr. Gabriel led the program and Rev. Fr. John shared about the importance of AIDS awareness to the local people. Rev. Fr. Rajendra organized a cultural program to raise awareness through skits.
Rev. Fr. Sam and his team distributed 12,650 pamphlets called “What You Need To Know about AIDS” along with other AIDS awareness literature.
Police officer Shri Jeeva said, “We cannot encourage AIDS disease, but we comfort those with AIDS. It is our duty to wipe out AIDS from our nation and from Hyderabad.” He appreciated Believers Church’s social activities to raise AIDS awareness.
This rally was one of many such programs Believers Church held across the nation on World AIDS Day. Thousands were educated about the disease through rallies, literature and speeches.
