Tea Estate Workers Receive Free Medical Care in Diocese of Colombo

Believers Church Diocese of Colombo organized a free medical camp for tea estate workers on 22nd March 2016.

These people earn a very limited income by working in the tea estates. Hence, they do not get to eat a healthy or nutritious food most of the time. As a result, many of them are suffering from diseases like anemia, vitamin deficiency and gastric problems. Even then, they don’t seek any medical help in order to save money from paying bills. So, the church conducted this camp to help such people.

Five doctors along with a Ministry of Health officer came for the camp. They provided general health checkups and medicines and treatments to people according to their need.

425 people including children received free medical care that day. “The hospital is very far from our place,” said Vinod, one young boy. “Thank you for organizing this camp. I had low blood pressure and I got medicine very easily.”

Believers Church ensures the good health of people who are unable to afford to medical facilities through organizing free medical camps and medical awareness programs.
