In a heartening initiative to uplift underprivileged and unemployed women, the Women’s Fellowship Department of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu celebrated a momentous occasion on February 14, 2024, as they hosted a graduation ceremony for the recently concluded tailoring training program.
The tailoring center, established in Majhitar of Sindhuli district and inaugurated last September, was aimed at providing a ray of hope and skill development for women in the region. The initiative aimed to empower them with the necessary tools to secure a sustainable livelihood.
Twelve sisters, facing challenges of unemployment and lacking crucial skills, were given an opportunity to learn the art of stitching at the newly established tailoring unit. Despite various hurdles, nine of these determined women persevered and successfully completed the vocational training program.
In a joyful and heartfelt ceremony held at the Believers Eastern Church premises, the Women’s Fellowship Department of Kathmandu Diocese presented certificates to the graduating sisters. The occasion not only marked their accomplishment but also symbolized a step towards economic independence for these women.
Sister Phulmaya, one of the grateful graduates, expressed her heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I would like to thank Believers Eastern Church for giving me the privilege to enroll in this tailoring center. I had never touched a sewing machine in my life. You gave me the opportunity to learn. Thank you so much for making me a skillful woman.”
