Believers Church Patna Diocese celebrated Christmas by distributing poverty alleviation gifts to the underprivileged on 24th December. The program began with cultural dances by Patna Diocese Seminary students.
Shri Uday Narayan Choudhary (Speaker, Bihar Legislative Assembly) was the chief guest. As he launched Believers Church’s community development project for the coming year, he lauded the church’s efforts to reach out to the poor and needy.
Special guests Shri Sahid Ali Khan (Minority Welfare and Information Technology Minister) and Smt Poonam Devi (MLA) also appreciated the church for helping the government to build the state of Bihar by making a deliberate choice to care for the welfare of the underprivileged.
“The Bihar government and people will never forget the humanitarian service of Believers Church,” said Shri Sahid Ali Khan.
In his Christmas message, Bishop M.A. Lalachan said, “Christmas is the celebration of the incarnation of God in Jesus as God’s greatest gift to the mankind, opening the door to new life, hope and peace to all.”
Bishop Lalachan and the special guests distributed gifts to the poor, including blankets and a tricycle for a disabled man.
This is just one example of how Believers Church takes opportunities throughout the year to serve the poor.
