On 8th March 2013, Believers Church Udaipur Diocese Sisters of Compassion honored the hard work of slum children from their tuition center.
Three sisters have been serving in this place for the last year. When they arrived in the slum, they soon realized that most of the children had never stepped into a school. Many of their fathers were alcoholics, and their mothers had to work hard even to provide food.
This motivated the Sisters of Compassion to open a tuition center to educate the children. They provided slates and pencils to the students and divided them into Primary, Junior and Senior groups. Many children have learned to read and write through the center.
On 4th March, a year after the center opened, an examination was conducted for the students. Some of the children wrote excellently. To recognize these outstanding students, the Sisters of Compassion organized a special program. They awarded prizes to the top three students from each age group.
Children also got the chance to perform colorful dances and skits they learned from the Sisters of Compassion. The kids were bursting with excitement and the parents who attended watched them with pleasure.
Believers Church’s Sisters of Compassion are specially trained to serve those in need, including slum-dwellers, widows and leprosy patients.
