Believers Church Jorhat Diocese held a World Water Day program in a slum area on 22nd March 2013. Water problems made life difficult for the impoverished people living here.
A team of staff from the Women’s Fellowship and BioSand water filter departments arranged the meeting in a primary school. 70 people gathered to learn about the importance of water, including schoolchildren, teachers, village leaders and the local ward member.
During the program, Believers Church installed two free BioSand water filters in the school. Everyone was happy for a way to purify their water.
Giving pure water is only a part of Believers Church development work here. The church’s Sisters of Compassion regularly work in this area, and hope to open a free tuition center for the slum children soon.
