In a sacred and joyous service held at St. John’s Believers Eastern Church in Gurugram, the Archdiocese of Delhi inducted six sisters into the Order of the Sisters of the Cross. This significant event was part of a two-day ceremony, beginning with the commissioning service on July 1, followed by the dedication service on July 2. Both services were officiated by Archbishop His Grace John Mor Irenaeus Episcopa.
The event was graced by the presence of clergymen from the Delhi diocese, diocesan staff members, their families, and other attendees who gathered to witness this solemn occasion. His Grace John Mor Irenaeus Episcopa delivered an inspiring sermon, drawing from God’s Word and the life of Mother Teresa, encouraging the newly inducted sisters to embrace their mission with compassion for the destitute.
During the ceremony, the sisters took a solemn oath before the Honorable Episcopa and the congregation, pledging their faithfulness to God and the Holy Church in fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ. Each sister then presented their signed oath to the Episcopa. As a symbol of their commitment, the Honorable Episcopa presented each candidate with a cross, signifying their self-denial, love for Christ, and dedication to a sacrificial life. Additionally, each sister received a Bible to guide them in their spiritual journey.
The dedication service also included the divine service of the Eucharist, enhancing the sanctity of the occasion. Following the service, attendees enjoyed a fellowship dinner.
One of the newly inducted sisters, Vasundara, expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I’m blessed to have had the opportunity to learn many things about serving God and society during my training period. I’ll keep learning even in the new place of ministry.”
