On 10th April 2013, 55 Sisters of Compassion were dedicated at Believers Church’s Synod Secretariat to serve the suffering. This marked the completion of their six-month training.
Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan blessed each sister, handing over silver crosses signifying their service to God and the poor.
“You are extremely important and valuable to the church,” said the metropolitan during his message. “And each one of you has the potential to be another Mother Teresa or Pandita Ramabai.”
Many sisters were in tears as they committed themselves to selflessly care for leprosy patients, widows, orphans and slum-dwellers. Believers Church hopes to expand the Sisters of Compassion order to include more than 2,000 sisters in developing nations.
