Sisters of Compassion from the Diocese of Lucknow organized a sandal distribution program in a leprosy colony on 5th August, 2014. Altogether 50 people including both men and women received special sandals that day.
Since the fingers and toes of leprosy patients are often short or deformed because of their disease, they can’t use normal footwear. Hence, Believers Church took measurements of the feet of people in the leprosy colony in order to make custom-sized sandals. Rev. Fr. Deva inaugurated the function by distributing sandals to the leprosy patients. The sisters helped them to wear the new sandals on their feet.
The people who took part in this distribution program were so happy for the great love and care the sisters showed toward them. “I am very much thankful to the church,” said Tara, a beneficiary, “for providing us these pairs of sandals which were very much needed. I am also thankful to these sisters for being with us in our colony and helping us in many ways.”
Sisters of Compassion is an order of Believers Church that work among suffering and neglected people, including widows, orphans and leprosy patients.
