Believers Church Bilaspur Diocese’s Sisters of Compassion, in honor of World Leprosy Day, distributed gifts to leprosy patients on 31st January 2013.
The diocese Women’s Fellowship leader, Tilotma, accompanied them as they visited different places. Tilotma encouraged the leprosy patients by sharing from the Bible how Jesus touched a man with leprosy. “We all are equal in God’s view,” she said.
50 patients received gift hampers containing soap, bandages, cotton, and washing powder.
Mr. Chitrasen, a 56-year-old patient, appreciated the church’s activities. “We are totally excommunicated from society,” he said. “No one wants to touch, talk or have contact with us. But I thank the leadership of the church, not only are they teaching, but they are working practically in our village among leprosy community.”
Believers Church not only arranges annual World Leprosy Day programs, the church’s Sisters of Compassion also work year-round in various leprosy colonies.
