Believers Church Tinsukia Diocese organized Global Hand Washing Day programs on 15th October 2012 to create hygiene awareness among society. Bridge Of Hope project centers took this opportunity to promote hand washing, personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness.
The team set out to raise awareness carrying liquid soap, buckets, mugs, towels, posters and instructional leaflets. They visited several houses, tea garden colonies, hotels and six schools. They also built a temporary shelter on a busy roadside.
As they interacted with school children and community people, the staff focused on the importance of washing hands. Ten thousand people learned the significance of good hygiene and more than 2,000 actually got the chance to practice washing their hands properly.
Dr. A.K. Sen, MD was a resource person for the program. He gave valuable health tips to the crowd.
Many people in tea-growing areas of Tinsukia lack knowledge of health and hygiene. Frequent cases of diarrhea, jaundice and pneumonia break out among little children living in these remote areas.
Believers Church is toiling through its various departments like Bridge Of Hope throughout South Asia to develop communities and contribute to their well-being.
