Sharing the Joy with the Poor and Needy: Hundreds Receive Food and Essential Items on Founder’s Day

Believers Eastern Church celebrated the 70th birthday of HH Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I Metropolitan on 8 March 2020. In honor of his love for the poor and needy and his unwavering commitment to alleviating their suffering, Believers Eastern Church dioceses held a host of social welfare programs and extended help to the poor and vulnerable in their communities.

Food Distribution

Several dioceses organized food distributions to satiate the hunger of people living on the streets, and in slums, leprosy colonies, orphanages and railway stations.

Distribution of Blankets and Essential Items

As part of the celebrations blankets were distributed to slum dwellers, widows and the destitute. Besides this, notebooks, clothes and multivitamin tablets were distributed to poor and needy children and sarees were gifted to destitute women.

Tree plantation

Another highlight of the celebration was the tree plantations that were held at different places to save the environment.

Priests and the faithful across our parishes offered special prayers for the good health and long life of the Metropolitan.
