Believers Church Kolkata Diocese inaugurated a new Bridge of Hope center on the 9th of August.
Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan declared the center open by cutting a ribbon and setting free a white dove. Despite bad weather conditions, more than 600 villagers had assembled for the event.
Also, during the program, 70 poor widows were each given a sari. One poor widow with her eyes full of tears said, “I have four sons but no one takes care of me. To everyone I am a burden.” Bridge of Hope hopes to change such a situation by raising a generation that will value its elders.
The program concluded with the distribution of school bags, notebooks, steel bowls, hygiene and school supply materials to the enrolled students.
These students will be joining 67,000 others who are enrolled in 550 Bridge of Hope centers. They will receive nutritious food, value added education and loving care.
