On World Water Day, 22nd March 2013, Believers Church Dhemaji Diocese distributed BioSand water filters to two primary schools that were attached to each other.
The schools only had one hand pump from which children could get drinking water. This water was full of arsenic, smelled bad and was unsafe for the children’s health. But they were compelled to drink it, as there was no other option.
The staff and children were so grateful to freely receive BioSand water filters to purify their water.
“Now, we are happy that our children will drink clean water,” said one schoolteacher. “The water is clean after filtering from BioSand water filter and even the smell is gone. We are excited for the filters provided to our school and it is a great help and a change for our school.”
140 students will benefit from the new filters. And this is just one example of how Believers Church provides clean water to struggling communities.
