As people around the world observed Global Hand Washing Day on 15th October 2010, Believers Church staff in Uttarakhand conducted an awareness program at a local school.
Prior to the program, Believers Church leaders received permission from the authorities at Bal Cultural Academy to organize the event.
Four Believers Church clergy and staff members went to the school to raise awareness about hygiene—Rev. Fr. Samuel, Rev. Fr. Anup, Pr. Chandra and Mrs. Bindhumol.
The program started at noon as Rev. Fr. Anup shared with teachers and students about the importance of hand washing. He said, “Hand washing with soap is the single most effective and inexpensive way to prevent diarrhea and pneumonia.” He urged the teachers to frequently invite health personnel to their school to talk to the students about the need to wash their hands with soap.
After this, the team screened a video about hand washing. The teachers and students attentively watched the film. At last Rev. Fr. Chandra asked the students to say the slogan, “Clean Hands Save Lives!” The students shouted the slogan with much enthusiasm.
The school authorities thanked the team for taking such an initiative to educate children and raise awareness in society.
In addition to the school program, Uttarakhand’s Women’s Fellowship team screened the hand washing video in two different communities of Uttarkhand.
Believers Church recognizes the acute importance of hygiene and is tirelessly working to educate the public in this regard. Global Hand Washing Day is observed by Believers Church in many locations each and every year.
