In a heartwarming initiative, Hope for Children under Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Dhaka recently organized a School Bag Distribution Program aimed at providing much-needed support to students in economically and educationally backward rural communities. The program, which took place on October 28, 2023, sought to alleviate the financial strain on families struggling to cover the expenses of uniforms, books, shoes, stationery, and more for their children attending public schools.
Despite the free education offered in public (government) schools, the additional costs associated with a child’s schooling can be a significant burden for families living in unstable financial conditions. Recognizing the need for assistance, Hope for Children stepped up to distribute school bags to 138 children during the event.
The primary objective of this program was to encourage these children to attend school regularly and prevent dropouts. All the school bags distributed during the event featured a uniform design with the HFC logo, emphasizing the unity and equality of all the children. This symbolic gesture sends a crucial message to the community, underscoring the principle that all children, regardless of gender, deserve equal treatment and care, promoting gender equality.
The School Bag Distribution Program lightened the financial load on economically challenged families by providing school bags free of cost. This assistance allows these families to allocate their hard-earned resources to other vital necessities.
The event attracted more than 300 community members, with the Vicar General of the Dhaka Diocese as the esteemed chief guest. The presence of key figures such as Md. Anisul Haque, Union Parishad Chairman, Md. Alimuddin, ward member, and Md. Golam Sarowar, government school teacher, added further significance to the occasion.
Both the children and the community members expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the school bag distribution program and the valuable school bags provided.
