On 7th March 2013, Believers Church Colombo Diocese provided a struggling Sri Lankan community with materials to build toilets.
The local people had lost everything in the country’s civil war, including their homes. They received bare land from the government where they could resettle. When Civil Affairs Officers approached various organizations to help the destitute people, they asked Believers Church to assist with sanitary facilities.
The people were so grateful when the church distributed materials. A young woman named Narmada explained that they used to go by bike to the next village to use the toilet since their land is open and visible to the busy nearby road. “You have removed our shame by giving us the sanitary facility,” she said.
This is just one example of how Believers Church’s sanitation project offers dignity to a community.
