Believers Church Sikkim extended help toward earthquake victims in North Sikkim on 4th November, 2011. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Rocken (Vicar General) a team traveled to 4th Mile village in the Dzongu constituency for a relief program. Since it is a restricted area, they entered with prior written permission from the district collector and village head.
The team distributed 5,000 kilograms of rice for those who were victimized by the earthquake. More than 300 families from 4th Mile and Chungthang received food and blankets from Believers Church.
These families had been left out of other relief distributions. They are mostly people from Nepal who came and settled with the Lepcha and Bhutia communities several years ago. They sustain their lives by farming crops and rearing cattle.
The beneficiaries were extremely happy and extended their deep thanks to Believers Church and its ministries.
