On 11 July 2021, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu organized a dry ration distribution program through Hope for Children to help the families of economically disadvantaged children living in the outskirts of Kathmandu valley.
Hope for Children took this initiative with the aim to help these families who have lost their jobs and wages and find themselves struggling to get by. A total of 47 needy families were helped through the distribution. Each family received 10kg rice, 1kg dal, 1kg salt, and 1litre edible oil.
The chairman of the municipality, Mrs. Krishna Kumari Centuri was invited as the chief guest for the distribution program. In her short speech she thanked Hope for Children for taking the initiative to help the children and families with food items. She said, “Families living around the outskirts of Kathmandu city completely rely on temporary jobs, but due to Covid-19 pandemic they are now jobless and have no other means to earn their livelihood. These essential items would help them to sustain themselves during this difficult time”.
Children and their parents also expressed their gratitude for providing them with basic necessities.
A child by name Arbin Tamang who is part of Hope for Children said, “We almost ran out of food supplies and on the other hand, my parents were still not finding any work and were bit worried. The food items we received today will last for a good 2 weeks and by then I hope my father will get a work.”
