Believers Church Lucknow Diocese distributed blankets to the homeless on the night of 7th January 2013.
This winter’s severe cold killed more than 200 people in Uttar Pradesh. And many others survived only with great suffering. Some of the worst affected were beggars sleeping on the streets, railway platforms, bus stations, temples and roadside sewer pipelines.
Lucknow diocesan staff and Minor Seminary students wanted to relieve these desperate people. So they ventured into the frigid night to the local railway station where they distributed blankets to around 100 people, regardless of their caste or religion.
“We do not have a place for shelter, even in this crushing cold,” said a leprosy-affected man named Raju. “This blanket is a life-saving gift for me. Thank you.”
All across North India, Believers Church brought relief to those struggling through the season’s extreme cold.
