After severe flooding in West Bengal, Believers Church Kolkata Diocese worked to bring relief to devastated communities. Over two lakhs of people lost their homes in the floods, and dozens were reported dead when the Hooghly and Damadar rivers overflowed due to incessant rain. Many villages on the Sunderban islands were swept away by the flood waters, forcing people to take shelter in nearby schools and concrete houses.
Believers Church Kolkata Diocese started distributing aid on 19th August 2011. They gave away free packets of rice, dal, beaten rice, biscuits and milk powder. On the first day, the team was able to distribute supplies in Jangal Gheri, Nagendrapur and Baroda Nagar.<.p >
