Believers Church Ranchi Diocese observed Independence Day 2009 at the Minor Seminary in Jharkhand. Diocesan office staff, seminary staff and students gathered at the campus.
Chief guest Mr. Chamra Linda (president of Adivasi Chaatra Sangh) hoisted the national flag. His address challenged the crowd to work on behalf of society.
He spoke of Jharkhand freedom fighters such as Birsa Munda and of those who fought for national freedom like Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose.
After the message, Pastor Shibu prayed for blessings upon the country, government officials and the state of Jharkhand. The students and staff families celebrated with sports and games for the rest of the morning.
This program was one of many that Believers Church initiated throughout India in celebration of the nation’s freedom.
