On 8th March 2014, Believers Church Ranchi Diocese celebrated International Women’s Day with different types of programs. This year’s theme was “Equality for women is progress to all”. Women were honored and poverty-alleviating gifts were distributed among them to sustain their lives. The diocese distributed sewing machines, bicycles and solar panels to 90 women.
Ms. Boby Bhagat (chairperson for district women’s committee) was chief guest. In her speech she said, “Women ought to discover and know her dormant potential within her and she must be vigorous and militant to come forward in a proper channel and process to be an agent to create transformation in her life.”
Rev. Fr. Isaac spoke on the occasion and he stated about the importance and vitality of women’s role in every aspect of the society. “There’s tremendous power in women in establishing family and building community. Women are the real architects of society.” He emphasized the importance of education among women.
Believers Church always stands with the people who are not in main stream of the society. This is one among many examples where the church works to empower women.
