On World AIDS Day, Believers Church Patna Diocese held awareness rallies on 1st December 2010. A diocesan team of more than 60 people raised AIDS awareness in various locations of Patna, including a semi-government school and a college. Three nearby villages were also covered.
Rt. Rev. M.A. Lalachan inaugurated the rallies and said “For humanity AIDS is more dangerous than world war. AIDS is spreading in the country due to ignorance. In rural India, women in particular have very little knowledge about HIV/AIDS.”
At the request of the authorities of the college, Bishop M.A. Lalachan addressed the students and faculty for a special program. The team received a tremendous response and the Hindustan Times gave good coverage of the event.
Patna is just one area where Believers Church raised social awareness on World AIDS Day. Thousands of people throughout the Indian subcontinent learned about the disease and how to prevent it.
Communities grew stronger as individuals gained the knowledge necessary for a healthier and safer future.
