Believers Church Kolkata Diocese launched a project to care for leprosy patients in November 2007. The project aims to reach leprosy patients who have been ostracized by the community and are living in neglected colonies.
This initiative grew from local Pastor Joydeb’s interactions with leprosy patients in hospitals. As he began to build relationships with them and visit their houses, he understood their need for care, counseling and encouragement.
The church decided to address this need. Through the new project, church workers encourage leprosy patients and provide necessary medication and treatment. Currently, the diocese is focusing on two colonies, which are home to more than 350 families.
Believers Church hopes to expand this ministry in the coming days.
