Believers Church Mumbai Diocese worked to raise awareness on World AIDS Day, 2010. Mumbai Minor Seminary students carried banners about the cause from Pune Highway to the nearby villages. They told villagers that their life is precious and they should keep it safe and healthy.
According to the 2009 National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) report, 18,000 children in Mumbai have been infected by HIV due to transmission from their HIV positive mothers.
There is a tremendous need to spread awareness to help people prevent further infection. In accordance with this, Bridge of Hope project managers, staff and students from 15 BOH centers visited slum dwellers to raise HIV/AIDS awareness.
Believers Church organized similar programs on World AIDS Day through South Asia to meet the need of thousands who are yet uninformed about this vital issue.
