The flood situation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is worsening, particularly in the cities of Vijayawada and Khammam, which are among the hardest hit. Over 350,000 people and their homes have been submerged by the floodwaters. Although the waters have begun to recede, continuous rainfall is hampering rescue and relief operations, making it challenging to provide essential supplies.
Many people are struggling with a lack of drinking water, food, electricity, and mobile network connectivity, making communication difficult. Several of our priests and church members, as well as our diocesan office in Vijayawada, have been severely affected by the floods.
Yesterday, a team of our priests and parish members reached some of the affected areas, walking three kilometers through the water to deliver food supplies.
🙏 Pray for the safety and protection of those affected by these floods. Special prayers are requested for the residents of Vambey Colony, Ajitsingh Nagar, RR Pet, Nuziveedu, Avanigadda, Krishna Lanka, Chinthamoru, Karunagiri, Prakash Nagar, and other affected areas.
🙏 Please also pray for the restoration of electricity, the receding of floodwaters, the clearing of mud, and the efforts of medical teams, government officials, and NGOs.
