Believers Church Haryana conducted a poverty alleviation program on the 24th of September.
More than 255 necessary items were distributed to the beneficiaries like bicycles, cycle rickshaws, sewing machines, vegetable trolleys, cycle trolleys, solar lanterns, fans, goats, cows, blankets and the supplies to start a cosmetic shop or provision shop.
Mr. Choudhary Phool Chand Mulana (Congress Committee President) was invited as the chief guest. During his speech he gave special thanks to Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan and he also encouraged the beneficiaries to use the gifts in a suitable manner.
Rev. Fr. Kurian also spoke to the audience saying that instead of giving fish to someone for his hunger, teaching him to fish and giving him a net will enable him to earn money for a long time.
“This is really unbelievable for me,” said a beneficiary named Sunil. “I was not able to get a new rickshaw, but Believers Church has given me one so that I can work and earn money.”
Minakshi said, “This is a good thing that by the church I got this gift. After completing my studies I was free. I took a stitching course, but I had no machine to use at home. So I am really thankful to the Church for providing me this sewing machine to improve in my skill and earn a living.”
Believers Church conducts such poverty alleviation programs in many villages to help the underprivileged.
