On 22nd January 2014, Believers Church Kolkata Diocese conducted a poverty alleviation program. Bishop Dr.Juria Bardhan was the chief guest of the program.
Overall, 217 people received gifts, which included van rickshaws, bicycles, solar lights, goats, cows, piglets, tin bundles, sewing machines and paddy threshers.
The people who received the gifts lived in extremely poor conditions. Most of them were daily labors and hardly earned 50 rupees a day, which was not sufficient to provide food to their family. Considering their condition, Believers Church extended its hand and gave them the opportunity to earn a steady income through these gifts.
As the people received the gifts, their faces glowed with happiness, as they have found hope for survival and a productive future.
