Poor Families Receive Dry Rations in Diocese of Birtamod

In order to alleviate the suffering of the poor, needy and the helpless during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, a local parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod took initiative to reach out to Covid-hit families with dry ration kits on 8 June 2021.

The parish distributed ration items to 27 needy families at three different locations in Ilam District, East Nepal. The beneficiaries were daily wage laborers, single mothers, and physically-disabled persons.

Each family received a kit consisting of 30 kg rice, 1 kg salt, 1 kg beaten rice, 1 kg dal, oil, and facemasks. The beneficiaries were overwhelmed with joy to receive the items and thanked the church for extending help to them.

One of the recipients, Man Bahadur, said, “Due to the lockdown, I am out of work. I was really worried about how to feed my family. I am thankful to the church for knowing our needs and providing this help.”
