In collaboration with Village Women Committee, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kigali organized its first fund raise event under its Community Transformation Project (CTP) to help 15 poor and needy pregnant women of Bimana village.
The objective of this fundraising activity was to help the poor and needy pregnant women of the village stay healthy during their pregnancy as most of these pregnant women are poor single mothers left behind by their husbands.
With this objective, CTP took the initiative to interact with the Village Women Committee (a government administrative structure at village level) and encouraged them to take possible ways for strengthening the poor and needy women of the Bimana Community.
After much discussion, planning, and hard work, the Village Women Committee and CTP together took possible steps to interact with the local people and encourage them to donate for this noble cause. As the result, many people came forward to support this noble cause by donating money.
On 26 November 2022, during Umuganda (Saturday Public Program), Village Women Committee distributed Nutritious Mix and other Necessary items to 15 pregnant women, in the presence of government officials and village people.
At the end of the program, the government appreciated the initiative taken by the Village Women Committee and Community Transformation Project. People were found happy and encouraged after the distribution program.
The able villagers also promised to donate more towards helping poor and needy pregnant women. The Village Women Committee has decided to take constant initiatives to continue to help the poor and needy pregnant women in their community.
Bimana village situated in Kicukiro district is taken as the target area for the Community Transformation Project by the church.
