In an initiative to help the poor find some respite from excessive cold during this winter season, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu organized a blanket distribution in a remote hilly village in Makwanpur District, Nepal on 2 February 2022.
On this day, the diocese distributed warm fiber blankets to 50 physically challenged people from this village.
Mr. Om Bahadur Ghalan, councilor of the province and Mr. Thakuram Tilung, ward chairperson were present at the program.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Om Bahadur Ghalan, province councilor, said, “Many of you have been suffering during this winter season due to lack of warm clothes or blankets. Today, Believers Eastern Church has come to your aid by providing you with warm fiber blankets.”
After his speech, the blankets were handed over to 50 differently-abled people. Each one of them received the blankets with a joyful heart. They thanked and appreciated the help of Believers Eastern Church Nepal.
Hiralal Thing, a wheelchair user expressed his thankfulness to the church saying, “I cannot do any job to make a living, owing to my disability. I survive with whatever my parents give me. I never force my parents to buy or do something for me because I cannot do anything for them in return. You have filled my heart with happiness today.”
“This winter season has been very difficult for me as I didn’t have any good warm clothes or blankets. I have been surviving with an old tattered blanket. When I heard that Believers Eastern Church was going to help us, I felt so happy and came to receive the blanket today. Thank you for this expensive gift. May God bless Believers Eastern Church Nepal”, said Kumari Moktan.
