Patna Diocese Inaugurates New Vocational Training Unit

Believers Church Patna Diocese conducted a program with two major purposes in Rajeev Nagar on 15th October 2011. One was the inauguration of a vocational training unit under the poverty alleviation project. The other was the release of a film on health, hygiene and sanitation by Dr. Daniel Johnson (Director of Medicine).

Shri Shyam Rajak (State Government Minister for Food & Consumer Protection), Dr. K.P. Ramaiah (Commissioner of Patna and Principal Secretary to Social Justice and Empowerment) and Smt. Poonam Devi (Assembly Leader) were the special guests. Around 400 people participated in the program.

Shri Shyam Rajak launched the vocational training unit and inaugurated the project by lighting the traditional lamp. He applauded the efforts of Believers Church in reaching out to the poor and needy as well as demonstrating God’s love through humanitarian services for society.

Later Dr. K.P. Ramaiah released the film on health, hygiene and sanitation by Dr. Daniel Johnson. While delivering his key note address, Dr. K.P. Ramaiah said that the need of the hour is to give due importance to the welfare of the poor and downtrodden. He also said, “The greatest love a person can have for another is to love the most poor and downtrodden. We as fellow citizens of this great nation must give ourselves to serve this great nation and do everything we can to serve the poor and needy to establish justice, peace, unity, harmony and welfare for all communities of our nation.”

Smt. Poonam Devi said, “The government of Bihar along with the support of the NGO’s will build a healthy state and make people aware of the basic health issues and encourage people from all ages and all backgrounds to hold events that highlight the significance of the issues for good health and well-being.”

Later, Believers Church Bishop M.A. Lalachan spoke. He said, “Jesus said, ‘Love your God with your whole heart and love your neighbor to the same degree you love yourself.’ We are motivated by the love and compassion of God to serve others. As Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ This is the inspiration behind Believers Church’s involvement in community programs and the well-being of every citizen of our nation.”
