Patna Diocese Celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

Believers Church Patna celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, also declared by the United Nations as International Non-Violence Day, on 2nd October 2011 with the inmates of Beur Central Jail. Shri Shivendra Priyadarshi (Superintendent of Beur Jail) welcomed Bishop M.A. Lalachan, pastors and other participants.

Among the dignitaries Shri Bidhu Kumar (Probationary Superintendent), Mr. Dinanath Majhi (Jailer), Mr. Amarjeet Singh and Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh (Asst. Jailers) and doctors from the jail hospital were introduced for the program.

The theme of the program was, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” Bishop M.A. Lalachan spoke to the prisoners about how to live in peace. The inmates and officials responded positively and the event was covered by Hindustan Times, Hindustan (Hindi) and The Telegraph.
