In honor of World Leprosy Day, 30th January 2011, a Women’s Fellowship team from Lucknow Diocese brought free food to leprosy patients and orphans. The team consisted of four women and three Minor Seminary students. A local Believers Church worker, Pastor Patrus, led them to a charity home in Mohanlalganj run by the Roman Catholic Mission.
130 leprosy patients live on one part of the mission compound, and an orphanage is located a kilometer away on another part. The Believers Church team gave 150 lunch packets to this community free of cost. Each lunch contained poori, vegetables, pickle and sweets. To the delight of the leprosy patients, the team performed action songs while distributing food.
These patients live a hard life. They have been rejected by their families because of disease, and very few people every visit them. For this reason, they were so happy to see the Women’s Fellowship team.
All the staff of the charity mission appreciated the work of Believers Church in bringing joy and provision to the needy leprosy patients. Indeed, the church is reaching out to the downtrodden of society in many ways, providing hope, education and relief in thousands of communities throughout South Asia.
