The priest and members of the St. Mary’s Believers Eastern Church Parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Niranam has initiated a campaign named “Sneha Karam” to feed the poor and hungry affected adversely by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Under this initiative, the parish has been organizing free meal distributions on every Friday since last three weeks. From preparing, cooking the meals to packing and distributing, the priest and parish members have been working together as a team so that their small efforts may bring respite and hope to the poor and the homeless.
India has 1.77 million homeless people living on the streets, mostly begging or doing odd jobs for food. However, the nationwide lockdown has forced many to go hungry and sleep on an empty stomach. Parishes in India are doing whatever is possible to help the poor stave off hunger.
