Believers Eastern Church parishes across our dioceses celebrated Palm Sunday with special prayers on 28 March 2021, following the strict guidelines of COVID-19.
The faithful led by priests commemorated the day by taking out processions holding palm fronds in their hands.
Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of the Holy Week, commemorates the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem.
HG Joshua Mor Barnabas Episcopa was the chief celebrant of the Palm Sunday service held at the St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church Cathedral. The celebrations included the blessing of the palm leaves.
The Palm Sunday observance at the St. Peter’s Cathedral was led by HG Daniel Mor Timotheos Episcopa. Holding palm fronds the faithful took out procession to mark the start of the church’s most solemn week.
The Holy Week continues into Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and culminates with the Easter celebrations on Sunday.
