Believers Church Diocese of Bengaluru inaugurated a new bore well at Mahadevapura village in Mandya District of Karnataka on 2nd May 2016.
NDTV covered the plight of these villagers in a report recently. Every year, during summer, the villagers go through severe scarcity of water though their village is located near to the river of Cauvery and KRS dam. And at those times, they used to get water from tankers or bore wells. But this year, even the bore wells and pumps have dried up. Now, the villagers have to travel at least 4 kilometres to reach to the nearest water source. Since majority of them are daily wage labourers, it is difficult for them to go and collect water from far places as it consumes a lot of their time.
Realizing their struggle and the urgent need for water, Believers Church installed this bore well.
Now, more than 9,000 people in this village and the surrounding five villages are benefitted through this well. “We are really happy and thankful to the church for installing this bore well for us,” said the villagers with great joy.
This is an example of how the Church is reaching to the people in drought-hit villages in India.
