Over 7,500 children received Albandazole anti-worm tablets through tablet distribution drives organized by Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Lucknow on 10 February 2019 to observe National Deworming Day.
Globally 860 million children are affected by parasitic worm infections and more than 600 million children remain untreated.
National Deworming Day is observed in India with an aim to reduce the threat of parasitic worm infections in children, which affects over 241 million children in the country every year.
The diocese held tablet distribution drives at impoverished villages, slums and government schools and administered deworming tablets to poor and needy children.
The diocese also brought awareness among people about the importance of deworming and maintaining good hygiene practices.
